Kristi MacDonald joins Hudsonia staff
May 2025 - We are very pleased to announce that Kristi MacDonald, PhD, has joined our staff as Science Director. Kristi spent the last decade as Director of Science at Raritan Headwaters, a nonprofit organization focused on the study and conservation of natural resources in the upper Raritan River watershed. Earlier she worked for Wildlife Conservation Society, Rutgers University, and NY-NJ Baykeeper, and she taught high school and college courses. Kristi’s field studies have addressed an endangered bird on an Indian Ocean island, deer in the Everglades, and bird assemblages in urban habitats of New Jersey’s Arthur Kill drainage. Kristi and Erik Kiviat have collaborated for 25 years on research in the New Jersey Meadowlands region. Their studies resulted in Urban Biodiversity: The Natural History of the New Jersey Meadowlands (Lexington Books, 2022). Kristi’s experiences in studying biota in urban and agricultural landscapes and her studies of mammals, birds, and stream fauna in particular, add to Hudsonia’s blend of research and technical assistance in providing detailed field science as the basis for conservation and land use planning. We expect Kristi to succeed Erik as Executive Director.
